Watercolors on silk screen
“Heir to the great tradition of tranh lụa (Vietnamese silk painting), Tay Nguyen renews this ancestral technique by infusing it with contemporary sensuality. Born in 1987 in Vietnam and living in France for several years, the artist explores the cultural in-between where memory and modernity intersect.
In this work, the female silhouette merges with flowers, feathers, and a dragonfly. The body, suggested rather than shown, becomes the site of an intimate dialogue between desire, nature, and poetry. The use of silk and watercolor produces vaporous transparencies, which evoke both the fragility of existence and the subtlety of emotions.
The brush held between the fingers, discreet but visible, introduces a mise en abyme: the woman represented is not only a muse, but also a creator. She embodies an active sensuality and an inner freedom, like a generation of contemporary Vietnamese artists who claim their place between heritage and openness to the world.
